Vintage Colnago MTB

I bought this in Belgium, got the train from Amsterdam to collect

A ’90’s Colnago steel MTB

I wanted something fairly low key for around town,

so I customized this

The original decals were in poor condition, and the font not really for me,

so I stripped them all off, and put a Colnago decal on the headtube

I built the wheels with Rigida DP 22 rims, and a shorter cage Shimano rear derailleur.

I changed the stem for a Cinelli and added some short reach Campagnolo brake lever and V calipers.

I put schwalbe Kojak 26×2.0 tyres on, which is great as you don’t get caught in tram line when you’re drunk.

I call it my ‘Hood Whip’

The decor is a marble finish, similar to my Spiral Conic

Had plenty of fun on it last summer, now I’ll sell….a new ‘Hood Whip’ build beckons…..

Norman, the new owner was kind enough to send me a picture of his renovation…

Excellent!!!

Thanks. That would be good. plmk total cost and if the postage isn’t too prohibitive I might have that. What size do you reckon anyway?

Thanks. Measuring is my problem lol. Got the circumference to 104 or 105 mm which equates to 32.78 or 33.10 diameter. Bang in the middle of 31.8 and 34.9.

Sorry to be a nuisance. I need a front derailleur as my 30mm is too small. Could you advise if I should go for 31.8 or 34.9? My measuring works out somewhere in between!
    TIA

I’ll try to find the old one, have you measured the seat tube?

I have almost completed the rebuild of this bike. I will send you photos when it’s finished. Have gone back to more like the original decals so don’t suppose you’ll like it. My LBS was inundated by post Olympics fever so I had to try another one. He told me it wasn’t a Colnago because they don’t make MTB’s. I nearly sent him some info on Maxim’s but decided not to waste my time. Needless to say I didn’t leave it for the work either.
