F MOSER SUPER PRESTIGE FRAME SET
Sold this recently , a beautiful Colnago VIP 2000 in Team Mapei Decor…

more Colnago team framesets will follow…
Picked this up yesterday from a fellow collector , (thanks again Peter!) , an Eddy Merckx MX Leader time trial frameset , with Columbus MXL tubing…

I picked up an ITM Dual time trial cockpit and a set of Dura ace7402 brake levers..

“Hi, that frame was ….used by a semi-professional Belgian team that was called ASLK-CGER Eddy MErckx Team. I was one of the riders. We had the same bikes as the Motorola Team but the colors where different “
Whilst at the Colnago factory , I told the saint that made it happen , Laura , that I’d ridden a Cinelli Laser tandem at L’Eroica XX Gaiole , that weekend just past…

,thanks and respect to Colombus brand manager Federico Stanzani for making this happen, a true L’Eroica Hero, I met him on the 137km first feed stop with an slr camera over his back,( great to meet you Federico ) , pictured below with my ‘Concurse D’ Elegance 2016 ‘ enterant , a 1984 Colnago Super CX , made with Columbus steel…

Laura said she’d worked with Mr Antonio Colombo himself , and that his art gallery maybe of interest….so off I went…
I was greeted by Mr Colombo’s assistant , who showed me round the gallery , and very kindly let me picture this, one of 21 Cinelli Laser Pista , signed by Mr Colombo..

I was then introduced to Mr Antonio Colombo himself…

Mr Colombo was kind enough to talk with me for a while, a truly amzing man, we talked about what he’s doing with Red Hook, Mike Giant, and the Mash crew , and a little about art, a true inspiration to me, to be with him and Mr Colnago on the same day is something I will never forget, I just wish I asked Mr Colombo about his time with Keith Haring.
Thanks to Laura @ Colnago, Federico @ Columbus
Mr Colombo’s asssitants,
and Mr Colombo, thank you for your patience and hospitality, and thanks for the joy you bring!

After I completed the 137 km and ‘Concurse D’ Elegance’ at L’Eroica XX Gaiole 2016,
I went to the Colnago factory , where I was greeted by Laura , and left my bike in the work shop area.
I asked if she minded answering a few questions and she very kindly introduced me to Alex Colnago , who was also very , very kind by letting me ask him a few questions .
The first I asked was if there are any distinctive marks on Gloria race bikes circa the mid ’60’s which would indicate his Uncles hand , sadly there are none.
I could have sat for years talking to Alex about his Uncle and the brand , but did not want to take up too much of his time , Laura then led me into the musuem…

I was floating on air just being on the premises to be honest , so did not have
the presence of mind to be on point with picture quality , so please forgive …
these are the C40’s that smashed the Hell Of The North..

and a Gloria Mr Colnago himself rode when he raced…
I was left alone to take some more (poor) images , and did not want to overimpose on
such hospitality by spending too long , so I left , and went back , thanking Alex and Laura
then , it happend
Laura said words I will never forget…
“Mr Colnago is in his office now, you can go and see him…”

such an amazing man , I was like a little boy , I pledged my loyalty and said I would never let him down .
Thank you Laura for making it happen , thank you Alex for your patience with me ,
and Mr Colnago , thank you for the joy you bring.

My first L’Eroica, Gaiole ride, and I made the ‘concurse’….
I arrived on the friday afternoon, and soaked up the vibe…
There were over 7100 bicycles in the whole event , and this year , the XX aniversary event , was the first year of the ‘Concurse D’Elegance’ , less than 100 bicycles made it, including my Colnago Super CX…

the bike faced serious competition..
I was blessed with the company of two other qualifiers from the U.K., Bob with his beautiful Hetchins who achieved 3rd place !!!
and Dave with a beautiful Gios Torino , seen in the crowd here in his Brooklyn jersey..

Dave’s Gios Torino won an award as well i think…

so I was over the moon that my two new friends won, I never expected anything , I was just happy being there…
On Sunday, I did the 137 km ride…here with a 6 a.m. start..

halfway…
and at the finish , after two downhill crashes and a few hill walk ups..

This is an exquisite frame, Columbus SLX steel
Pinarello Montello Cromovelato…

This was a random bid, and I got lucky for peanuts!

Colnago C40 1st generation Mapei Black Art Decor…

full round tubed carbon frame and ‘precisca’ forks , ( precursor to the carbon crimp tubed later models ) , came with Campagnolo Chorus 2×9 gruppo , this is a custom model, as it has internal cable routing on the top tube…
Herman Frison according to Wikipedia is a Belgian pro rider who won a stage tour of the Tour De France…

This example is currently being listed at a well known online
auction site…

I wonder if will achieve anything near it’s b.i.n price!
